School Trip to Spain: Sevilla, Cadiz, El Puerto de Santa Maria
King’s Macclesfield – June 2023
For the last few days of March we were exciting to welcome the King’s Macclesfield School in El Puerto de Santa María ! The group stayed with us in our wonderful Spark Residence where they took part in our Spanish classes and learned about the Spanish culture through the many cultural activities that the Spark team had organized.
Their trips started on sunday, because as soon as they arrived to Gibraltar, they went directly to Sevilla, where they got to visit the giralda and the Alcázar with Inés. Once in El Puerto, everyone went to enjoy barbecue together on the rooftop.
On Monday, everyone started with a good breakfast before getting ready for the rota activities. They had two typical Spanish classes. They made paella with Iris, and in their Spanish class with Laura, Inés and Noelia, they made postcards about their trip. After 4 rounds everyone moved to the roof and enjoyed the delicious paella everyone made. Later in the afternoon, everyone walked to the padel lesson and to finish the day, they had some free time at the beach.
Their third day started with a Spanish class, then everyone got ready to go to Cádiz. Everyone took the ferry and once there, they went to the Torre Tavira where they had the best view of Cádiz. Later, they ate churros con chocolate, walked through Genovés park and had some free time for shopping or seeing more of the city. Once in Spark, they all gathered after dinner on the rooftop and played some games to relax after a very long day walking in Cadiz.
On wednesday, they gathered on the rooftop after the breakfast to do some activities : they had a flamenco class with Lucia and pictures activity with Noelia. After 2 rounds of rota, they got ready and left for Kayaking. Later, they had some free time at the beach before walking back to Spark. It was a day that left a lasting impression on them, as they returned home with some great sunburns, but beside that, everyone had fun ! As night fell, everyone gathered on the rooftop to begin the closing ceremony : they had their departure ceremony with pictures of their stay and everyone got a Spanish certificate. It was a beautiful night, even the moon was present.
On their last day, the morning was quite hot since they had to leave Sark at 06:45, so the breakfast was at 05:30. After breakfast, they got ready and then left us to Gibraltar, and took their flight back to the UK.

We enjoyed our time with King’s Macclesfield here and hope it was a memorial experience for everyone.
