Collegiate’s School trip to Spain

School Trip to Spain: Cadiz and El Puerto de Santa Maria

We were happy to welcome Collegiate School to El Puerto de Santa María in March 2026! The group stayed with us in our  Spark Residence where they took part in our Spanish classes and learned about the Spanish culture through the cultural activities that the Spark team had organized.

At Spark, we were delighted to welcome the students of Collegiate School for an unforgettable Spanish immersion experience. From the moment their chaperone greeted them at Malaga Airport, the students embarked on an exciting journey through language, culture, and tradition.

After an early start and a smooth flight, the group travelled inland to the breathtaking town of Ronda. Nestled dramatically above a gorge, Ronda provided the perfect introduction to Andalusia’s beauty. The next morning began with a short walk into town for a classic Spanish treat, churros with chocolate, before returning for a Spanish lesson. The day continued with a lively rotation of activities, including a flamenco dance class and paella cooking lesson. After enjoying their meal, the group explored a historic castle and later visited the local beach. The evening was spent enjoying tapas in town.

Day three took the students across the bay by ferry to Cádiz, one of Europe’s oldest cities. After breakfast and another Spanish lesson, they travelled by boat, enjoying scenic coastal views along the way. In Cádiz, highlights included a visit to the Torre Tavira for panoramic city views and an exploration of local historical sites. There was also time for shopping before heading back by ferry. The evening ended with sociable BBQ dinner.

The final morning was dedicated to packing, a last breakfast, and reflections on the trip. After travelling back to Málaga Airport, the group returned to the UK with lasting memories, improved language skills, and a deeper appreciation for Spanish culture.

Throughout their stay, the students were fully immersed in authentic Spanish culture, using their language skills in real-life situations, and embracing Spain’s traditions firsthand. At Spark, we are proud to have been part of this transformative experience, and we look forward to welcoming more students eager to learn, explore, and fall in love with the Spanish way of life!

¡Hasta pronto, amigos! We can’t wait to welcome you back for another Spark experience!
