School Trip to Spain: Cadiz and El Puerto de Santa Maria
We were happy to welcome Harris Chafford School to El Puerto de Santa María in March 2025! The group stayed with us in our Spark Residence where they took part in our Spanish classes and learned about the Spanish culture through the cultural activities that the Spark team had organized.
At Spark, we were delighted to welcome the students of Harris Chafford Academy for an unforgettable Spanish immersion experience. From the moment their chaperone greeted them at Gibraltar Airport, the students embarked on an exciting journey through language, culture, and tradition.
Upon their arrival at Spark on Sunday evening, the students settled in and participated in a fire safety tour before enjoying a traditional BBQ, setting the perfect tone for the days ahead. The immersive experience truly began on Monday morning with a Spanish lesson, followed by an engaging tour of El Puerto, where students explored the vibrant local market, practicing their language skills with native speakers. Their cultural exploration continued with a visit to Cádiz, where they admired the stunning Teatro Romano and Torre Tavira, before enjoying some free time for shopping or relaxing at Playa La Caleta. Returning to El Puerto by ferry, they ended the day with a delicious Spanish dinner.

Tuesday brought even more exciting activities, starting with a classic Spanish breakfast of churros with chocolate. The highlight of the day was a rotation of cultural activities, where students had the opportunity to participate in paella cooking lessons, flamenco dance classes, and extended Spanish lessons. This hands-on approach allowed them to dive deeper into Spain’s rich traditions. The afternoon saw them relaxing at the beach, embracing the Mediterranean lifestyle, and later, they celebrated their last night with tapas and a departure ceremony, reminiscing about their enriching experiences.
On Wednesday, the students packed up and prepared for departure, making the most of their last morning with a castle tour before heading back to Gibraltar. Their chaperone ensured a smooth transition throughout their journey, from the airport pick-up to guiding them through each cultural and linguistic adventure, and finally, accompanying them to the coach back home.

Throughout their stay, the students were fully immersed in authentic Spanish culture, using their language skills in real-life situations, and embracing Spain’s traditions firsthand. At Spark, we are proud to have been part of this transformative experience, and we look forward to welcoming more students eager to learn, explore, and fall in love with the Spanish way of life!

¡Hasta pronto, amigos! We can’t wait to welcome you back for another Spark experience!
