School Trip to Spain: El Puerto de Santa Maria, Cadiz and Sevilla
Folkestone Girls – April 2023
We were happy exciting to welcome Folkestone Girls in El Puerto de Santa María as our last group for April ! The group stayed with us in our wonderful Spark Residence where they took part in our Spanish classes and learned about the Spanish culture through the many cultural activities that the Spark team had organized.
Their trips started on started on Thursday when they arrived in Malaga and were brought to Spark. They had some free time at the beach, had dinner as they came back to Spark and prepared themself for their first day here in El Puerto de Santa María.
On Friday, after having breakfast, everyone started their first day with the “rota” of 1 hour activities. They had three typical Spanish classes : they made paella with Mama Iris (as the Folkestone teachers would say) , had a Flamenco dance class, and in their Spanish class they made postcards about their trip. After 3 rounds, everyone moved to the rooftop and enjoyed the delicious paella the girls made. For the afternoon, they visited the castle and then went for kayaking. To finish the day, they went out to eat some tapas.
Their second day started with a Spanish class and then they had a walking tour through El Puerto de Santa Maria. As they had finished their visit, the girls walked to the ferry and went to Cadiz where they visited the Torre Tavira, ate delicious churros con chocolate, walked through Genovés park and had some free time for shopping and to see more of the city.
On their last day, they first had breakfast at Spark before going to the hermosa city of Sevilla. They visited the Alcazar, Barrio Santa Cruz and Giralda. They had their departure ceremony with pictures of their stay and everyone got a Spanish certificate. The next day, the girls had their last breakfast with us before leaving for the UK.
We enjoyed our time with Folkestone Girls here and hope it was a memorial experience for everyone.
