School Trip to Spain: El Puerto de Santa Maria, Cadiz

Tytherington – June 2023

In June, we were really happy to welcome Tytherington School in El Puerto de Santa María ! The group stayed with us in our Spark Residence where they took part in our Spanish classes and learned about the Spanish culture through the cultural activities that the Spark team had organized.

On Friday, as soon as the group arrived in Spark Residence, they had started the “rota activities” : They had three typical Spanish classes. they made paella, had a Flamenco dance class, and in their Spanish class they made postcards about their trip. After 3 rounds everyone moved to the roof and enjoyed the delicious paella everyone made. Later, they enjoyed the paella that everyone prepared. After dinner, they went to the beach to have some free time, unfortunately, it was too windy so they decided to come back to Spark, where they enjoyed nuggets on the rooftop.

On Saturday, everyone started with a Spanish lesson, got ready for a walking tour through El Puerto de Santa Maria via bullring and the market, they also went to see the Castle from the outside. Later, it was free time at the beach.

On Sunday, they walked to the ferry to go to Cadiz. Once again, the weather conditions were not very favourable, so everyone took the bus to go to Cadiz, everyone was pretty positive and made the most of every moment. They visited Torre Tavira, ate churros con chocolate, walked through Genovés park and had some free time for shopping or seeing more of the city. For their last night with us, they went to eat taas outside before going back to the residence where they celebrated together one student’s birthday. To finish the day, they had their departure ceremony with pictures of their stay and everyone got a Spanish certificate.

On Monday, the group left us really early at 05:00 AM and went to Malaga airport where they finally left us for the UK. We really enjoyed being with Tytherington School.
