Study Spanish in Cuenca, Ecuador

Cuenca, gives the feel of a small, friendly town in the body of a adult. It has a wonderful historical center and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cobbled streets and beautiful colonial feel only add to the charm of this bustling city.

Getting There: Fly into Quito or Guayaquil airports; There are flights from these cities to Cuenca. Most schools have airports transfers but they are expensive ($150+).  You can also take a chartered bus to Cuenca, but it is over 10 hours and depart in the evenings.

Accent: One of the cleaner accents in Latin America.

Prices range from $250- $450 a week and include the following:
  • 4 + hours  a day of private Spanish classes per week (some schools have group lessons for less)
  • 7 days accommodation at either host family where available
  • 6 days of meals (if you opted for host family option)
  • free/reduced price excursions with Spanish School

Safety: Very safe city, take precaution with pick pockets

Trips/Excursions: There is much to see and do in Cuenca and account of it’s UNESCO standing, not too bad on the eyes either. Plenty of historic sites to check out locally like Old Catherdral, Calderon Park and a monestary that dates back to 1682. Weekend trips include Cajas National Park and the market town of Gualaceo.
