Study Spanish in Flamingo Beach, Costa Rica

Flamingo Beach or Playa Flamingo has it all the attributes of a great Spanish learning environment. It is about 1.5 hours from Liberia and is a small beach town with bustling tourist trade. It is rumored that Elizabeth Taylor once had a house here. The air is fresh, the seafood plentiful, and the ocean waves huge. While the prices here are indicative of it’s popularity, it’s charm will rub off on you.

Price range from $450- $600 and include the following:

  • 20 + hours of private/group Spanish classes a week
  • 7 days accommodation at host family
  • 6 days of meals (if you opted for host family option) *some families only provide 2 meals a day
  • free/reduced price excursions with Spanish School

Spanish Schools of Flamingo Beach:

Accommodation: Believe it or not, budget options exist here for $15-20 a night. These prices include either dorm living or private rooms.

Navigation: Small beach community, you’ll have no trouble navigating. There is a public bus system that can get you from town to town for about $.50.

Safety: Keep a watchful eye when you are on the beach and go into the water.


Playa Flamingo

Trips/Excursions: Since Flamingo beach is on the water, there are several activities to do after lessons and on the week-ends. Horseback riding, Kayaking / snorkeling, Jungle boat trip on the Sarapiquí River, Volcanoes: Rincón de la Vieja, Arenal, Poás, Irazu, visits to Manuel Antonio National Parks: Manuel Antonio, Tortuguero, Monkey Park. Tamarindo is a very popular expat and surfer community about 30 minutes away and also boasts some very fab restaurants.
